The Effects of the Benzo(A) Pyrene Administration on the Development of Lung Tumor in Mice (Mus musculus) Gross and Microscopic Examinations (Gambaran Makroskopik dan Mikroskopik Pertumbuhan Tumor Paru yang Diakibatkan oleh Pemberian Benzo (A) Piren pada Mencit (Mus musculus)
Twenty eight newborn mice (Mus musculus) consist of 14 males and 14 females have been treated with benzo(a) pyrene (BP) which were dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) solution. The lung tumour induction has been done by intraperitoneally injection of the solution at the first day of age using doses of 0.2 umol BO/0.025 cc DMSO, 8th day of age using doses of 0.4 umol BP/0.025 cc DMSO, and 15th day of age using doses of 0.8 umol BP/0.025 cc DMSO. Examination on the lung of mice two month after induction using BP Tumour nodule distribution in the lung lobes were different between one lobe and the others (p less than 0.05). Sex of mice also influenced in lung tumour nodule count (p less than 0.05). The lung tumour nodule in females were found more abundance than that of male mice. Microscopic examination exhibited cell tumour with mitotic figure and anaplastic cells.
