The Effect of Binders on Granules Characteristics and Tablet Properties (Pengaruh Bahan Pengikat terhadap Karakteristik Granul dan Sifat Fisis Tablet)

Using the wet granulation method, the granules are prepared by adding the granulating liquid to the powder mass and mixed throughly. A rough way of determining the end point during the granulation process is to press a portion of mass in the palm of the hand. Three binders are starch, gelatin and Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) had been studied as wetting granulation liquid. The end point of granulation process was observed quantitatively by measuring the mixer energy. Granulates, made up using CMC as binder, has a good fluidity however its tablets showed that disintegration time was longer than that of others.
