Photostability of Octylmethoxycinamate (OMC), and the Influence against the Triptopphane Stability (Fotostabilitas Oktilmetoksisinamat (OMS) dan Pengaruhnya terhadap Stabilitas Triptopan)
The effectiveness of sun screen depends on the stability of drug used as an active compound, and its influence on the chemical components in skin cell. To study of the effectiveness of octylmethoxycinamate (OMC) as sun screen, the phostostability of OMC was examined by exposing the compound with direct sunlight. The influence of OMC on the stability of tryptophan was also studied. The layer was made by mixing homogenously of 900 mg of octylmethoxycinnamate, silica gel (15g) and water, and than spread on the glass plate using thin layer spreader. The layer of mixture was than exposed directly on sunlight for 5 hours (08.00 am to 13.00 pm), and the undergradable compound was extracted, after every hour exposing and analyzed using High Parformance Liquid Chromatography. Thereafter other experiment was also carried out by Performance Liquid Chromatography. Thereafter other experiment was also carried out by mixing of triptophane and silica gel, or tryptohane, silica gel and OMC, that had also been spread on a glass plate and exposed directly to sunlight. The result show that OMC was photodegraded about 34 percent at the first hour, however tryptophane was only 5 percent at the same time. Tryptophane inhibited against photodegration of OMC, conversely trytophane was degraded faster during two hours photodegration of OMC, conversely trytophane was degraded faster during two hours exposing to sunlight. The mechanism of that degradation would lately be discussed.
