The Effect of Peritoneal Suturing to the Occurence of Adhesion between Intraperitoneal Organ to the Peritoneal on Laparotomy (Pengaruh Peritoneum yang Dijahit pada Tindakan Laparatomi terhadap Terjadinya Adesi antara Peritoneum dengan Organ Intraperitoneal)
To know the effect of peritoneal suturing to the occurence of adhesion between intraperitoneal organ to the peritoneal wall, a randomized controlled trial of 45 rabbits have been done. They were divided in 3 groups of 15 each. Group I: the peritoneum was sutured with continuous interlocking method, group II with interupted one and group III without suturing. Two weeks after operation, relaparatomy through another incision was done to know the occurence and the length of adhesion. The adhesion occured in group I, II and III were 10 (52.6 percent), 7 (36.8 percent) and 2 (10.5 percent) prespectively (p less than 0.001). The mean length of adhesion in group I, II and III were 22 mm, 6 mm and 0.5 mm respectively (p less than 0.001). It is obvious that peritoneal suturing increased the occurence of adhesion between intraperitoneal organ and peritoneal wall, especially continous interlocking suture.
