The Comparation of the Trypticase soy Broth added with Sodium Polyanethol Sulfonate to Oxgall Medium for the Isolation of Salmonella typhi (Perbandingan Penggunaan Medium Empedu dan Medium Trypticase soy Broth-Sodium Polyanethol Sulphonate untuk Isolasi Salmonella typhi)
Trypticase soy broth added with 0.05 percent sodium polyanethol sulfonate (TSB-SPS) were compared to 10 percent oxgall (BCO) medium for the isolation of salmonella typhi from blood of patients suspect with typhoid fever. A total of 160 febrile patients was included in the study and S. typhi was isolated from the blood cultures of 85 patients (52 percent), 77 (48 percent) were positive from TSB-SPS and BCO in the isolation of S. typhi from the blood of the patients, however, BCO demonstrated positive growth faster than those shown by TSB-SPS.
