The Proportion of Schistosoma incognation Infected Rat at Cultivation Rice Field in Cakung and Karawang (Proporsi Tikus Sawah yang Mengidap Schistosoma Incognitum di Daerah Persawahan Cakung dan Karawang)
Rice field rat (Rattus argentiventer) has been widely known as pest of rice and crops. This rat is also the definitive host of Schistosoma incognitum. The purpose of this study is to know the proportion of rats infection with this parasite in those two ares. Previous study of Hadidjaja and Lukman (1983) showed the prevalence of 43 percent in Cakung area and this area was endemic for this parasite. In our study, rats cought from Cakung and Karawang were brought to laboratory of parasitology, Medical Faculty of University of Indonesia, then indentified and dissected for S. incognitum from mesenteric and portal veins. From each area, 50 rats were caught. This study showed 21 rats (42 percent) from Cakung area were positive for S. incognitum, 10 male (20 percent) and 11 female (22 percent); total paratites found were 152. From Karawang area 25 rats (50 percent) were positive, 13 male (26 percent) and 12 female (24 percent; Total parasites founds were 162.
