Temperature and Humidity Influence on Female Ae. aegypti Lifespan in Salatiga and Semarang (Pengaruh Suhu dan Kelembaban Udara Alami terhadap Jangka Hidup Aedes aegypti Betina di Kotamadya Salatiga dan Semarang)
The temperature and humidity are, among others, factors which affect the life span of mosquitoes, Caged female Ae. aegypti mosquitoes, kept inside and outside a building were studied in Semarang and Salatiga. During the study, the temperature and the humidity in Semarang (200 m above sea level) were 29.41 degree celcius and 75.07 percent respectively and in Salatiga (600 above sea level) 23.56 degree celcius and 85.37 percent. The results of the study showed that mosquitoes cultured in Semarang had a longer life span and a shorter gonotrophicc cycle, compared to those cultured in Salatiga. It was concluded that in Semarang the Ae. aegypti is more potential as a vector and therefore water reservoirs and other breeding places should be cleaned more frequently.
