Pengaruh Ekstrak Buah Mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L) terhadap Aktivitas Makrofag pada Mencit setelah Diinfeksi Plasmodium berghei (The Effect of Mengkudu (Morinda citrifolis L) Fruit Extract on Macrophage Activity of Plasmodium berghei Infected Mice)
Morinda fruit known for its antibacterial, antiviral, antidiabetic, antimalaria, antiarthritis and mmunomudulator activity and also for its effect in decreasing drug toxicity valuable chemical substances extracted from mengkudu fruits (Morinda critifolia L) fruit include alizarin scopoletin, anthraquinone, proxeronine, ascorbic acid and damnaconthal substances. Experiment was conducted to observe the effect of ethanolic extract (70%) of mengkudu fruit on macrophage phogocytic activity. Twenty Swiss-Webster mice were divided into four groups and all were infected with Plasmodium berhei. Different dosage of 200, 150 and 100 mg/kg body weight of morinda extract was applied to three groups respectively and distilled water was applied to fourth group. The treatment was given for 4 consecutive days the macrophage phagocytic activity was examined on the fifth day. The examination was carried out through two methods that was macrophage isolation and macrophage phagocytic activity testing using latex. The result of this experiment showed an average of 3.80 x 10⁶ cells/ml of macrophage phagocytic activity correspond to the dosage application of 200 mg/kg body weight of ethanolic extract of mengkudu fruits. Thus from this experiment can be concluded that theethanolic extract (70%) of mengkudu fruits 200 mg/kg body weight have an effect on macrophage activity of Plasmodium berghei infected mice.
