Aktivitas Ekstrak Air Daun Gandarusa (Justicia gendarusa Burm.f) terhadap Penurunan Kadar Asam Urat Darah Tikus(Activity of Justicia gandarussa Burm.f Leaves Water Extract in Lowering Blood Uric Acid Content in Rat)

This research was conducted to know the influence of Justicia gendarussa Burm. F leaves water extract as hypouricemic agent in white rats male (rattus novergicus) strain Sprague-Dawley that has been pretreated with potassium oonate. Thirty five rats were devided randomly into 7 groups. Oral administration of all test drugs was given for 8 days. There were 3 group doses variations of J. gendarusassa leaf water extract that were 0,345 g/200 g body weight (bw; and 1,38 g/200 g bw, 2 comparation groups that were allopurinol 36 mg/200 g bw and herb “X” 170 mg/200 g bw, and 2 control group that were induced control and normal Na-CMC 0,5%. Intraperitoneal administration of potassium oxonate 50 mg/200 g bw was given 1 hour before administration of test drugs in the 8 day and measured plasma uric acid in rats after 2 hours. Plasma uric was measured by spectro-colorimeter on 520 wavelength using enzymatic method. J. gendarussa leaves water extract had hypouricemic effect 2 hours after its administration to oxonate – pretreated rats. These results suggested that a continuous intake of J. gandarusa leaves water extract may be effective for the prevention and the treatment of hyperuricemia.
