The Effect of Permethrin Sprayed to Common Media of Resting Place of the Ae. aegypti (Efek Residu Permethrin yang Dipoles pada Berbagai Macam Benda Tempat Istirahat Aedes aegypty dalam Upaya Pemberantasan Demam Berdarah Dengue)
The effect of the insecticide permethrin 100 EC on Ae. aegypti, the vector for dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, was studied at the Entomology Laboratory, Health Research and Development of Health. Permethrin 100 Ec was sprayed (0.125 g/m2) to common media of resting places of the Ae. aegypti: board, nylon cloth, cotton cloth, wool and straw mats. A significant difference of mosquito knock down (LK 50) of the mosquitoes was found after 7.6 minutes on sprayed board and after 16.8 min. on wool. Slow effect was seen on sprayed straw effect was seen on sprayed straw mats (40.4 min.), cotton cloth (61.7 min.) and nylon cloth (157.4 min.). The time needed for a 95 percent knock down (LK 95) was longer, but of the same sequence. Bioassay showed that percentage of mosquito death was again higher on sprayed board (96.8 percent) and wool (84.8 percent) and again lower on sprayed straw mat (68 percent), cotton cloth (56.8 percent) and nylon cloth (22.4 percent)
