Survei Cepat Penanggulangan Masalah Kesehatan Lingkungan Kejadian Tsunami di Kabupaten Ciamis (Rapid Survey on The Control of Environmental Health Problem Resulted from Tsunami in Ciamis District)
Tsunami in District of Ciamis had brought about the damage of some infrastructures and 19.130 housings, and caused 368 fatalities in the area. There was 30,300 refugees scattered in 21 points of refugee camps. If the tsunami aftermath does not rapidly mitigate will result in public health problem. In line with the effort of dealing with the problem, it had been performed a rapid survey on the control of environmental health problem in the district. The survey objective was to collect data concerning the need of environmental health services in the tsunami affected areas. It ha been done in the most severe subdistrict affected by the calamity, namely in the sub-districts of. Pangandaran (6 refugee posts), Sidamulih (3 refugee posts), and Kalipuncang (1 refugee post). The Rapid survey results showed that as much as 70.0%outof refugees used dug well as the source of their clean water need, the clean water physical quality including the levels its turbidity, taste and odor was complied with health standards. As much as 70.0% out of the refugees used latrine, then, all of domestic sewage and solid waste were disposed in surrounding the refugee posts, there was no garbage can available in the sites. The most noticeable disease vector was fly, especially on solid waste disposal dump situated surrounding the posts. Environmental health services had not been performed, because the health effort was still focused on medical health services for the refugees. The most detectable diseases among the refugees were non-pneumonia acute respiratory infection (17.9% out of the refugees), and diarrhea (4.3%).
