Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Kebersihan Gigi dan Mulut Masyarakat DKI Jakarta Tahun 2007 (Factors Infuenced the Oral Hygiene of Community in DKI Jakarta 2007)

Research on factors influencing the oral conditions of community was done in DKI Jakarta n 1997. The objective of the study was to identify factors such as individual characteristics namely: sex, age, education, occupation, family burdens, behavioral condition i.e. smoking behavior, and health facilities i.e. the distance and accessibility of oral and dental health facilities. The design of the research was Cross Sectional study. A total of 828 respondents with the age of 15 years and above were picked out randomly to represent the ramdomly to represent the community of DKI Jakarta. To assess the oral conditions, indicator of the hygiene index-simplified (OHIS) was used. Scoring of OHIS was done by summing-up debris index and calculus index. Data analyzing was performed by using Chi Square and Logistic Regression by SPSS version 11,5. The result showed that the levels of the OHIS of the Jakarta community was mild, which value was 1.3-3.0. Bivariate analysis showed that the relationship between education, smoking behavior and family burden with the oral hygiene of the community, whereas multivariate analysis showed that education was the only factor influencing the oral hygiene condition
