Resistance of M. tuberculosis to Anti Tuberculosis Drugs in Patients have been Treated with Anti Tuberculosis Drugs (Resistensi M. tubrculosis terhadap Obat Anti Tuberkulosis pada Penderita Tuberkulosis Paru yang telah Mendapat Pengobatan)
The aims of the study was to determine drug resistance rates in 30 tuberculosis patients previously have been treated with streptomycin (SM), isoniazide (INH), ethabutol (E) and rifampicin (R) in Pirngadi Hospital, Medan. Ninety-six percent of these patients showed resistance to one or more of the following 4 drugs SM, INH, E and RF. Resistance to E was encountered most (83.33 percent), followed by resistance to RF (63.33 percent), INH (56.67 percent), and resistance to SM (46.65 percent). Nearly onepthird of the patients showed resistance to one or more drugs combination. The highest resistance was obtained showed resistance to one or more drugs combination. The highest resistance was obtained to combination to SM, INH, E and RF. It was concluded that antituberculosis drug resistance increased with increasing duration of the previous therapy.
