Evaluasi Penggunaan Cyfluthrin untuk Pemberantasan Malaria di Pulau Adonara, NTT
An operationale-scale trial of Cyfluthrin a new pyrethroid insecticide for malaria control in Adonar island, EastFlores, East Nusatenggara have been conducted in 1996, Two formulations, i.e Cyfluthrin 10 WP was used for indoor residual spraying in East Adonara and Cyfluthrin 50 EW was used for bednets impregnation in West Adonara. Both formulation were applied at a target dosage of 0,050 g active ingredient (a.i/m2 one cycly. Result of contact bioassay test showed that the effectiviness (mosquito mortality >70%) of Cyfluthrin at a target dosage of 0,059 g a.i/m2 for about 5 months in all wall surfaces of houses and in surfaces of nylon bed nets.Total average of malaria vector densities Anopheles barbirostris, An. Subpictus, and An. Sundaicus 6 months after apraying were declined 67,18%. Where as in the area were the impregnated bed net used the total average of malaria vector densities 6 months after using of impregnated bed net were declined 57,00%. Efectiveness (reduction >50%) of spraying on parity rate of An. Barbirostris and An. Subpictus for abaut 3 months and to An. Sundaicus for about 6 months. Evectivness. Of using impregnated bed nets on parity rate of An. Barbirostris for about 3 months and to An. Subpictus and An. Sundaicus for about 6 months. Malaria prevalence was presented by slide positif malaria (SPR) and slide positif plasmodium falciparum (SFR) in spraying trial area were reduced 93,60% and 99,98% respectively. In impregnated bed area SPR and SFR were reduced74,70% and 99,92% respectively. No negative side effect were reported during the spraying, impregnation of bed nets and using of impregnated bed nets.
