Faktor Risiko Diabetes Melitus di Rumah Sakit Umum Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makasar
Diabetes mellitus is a threat to public health. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus is increasing in the world and it becomes an epidemic. Research aimed to find out to what extent the risk factors of the prevalence of diabetes mellitus especially obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, family history, and stress. This research was carried out at endocrine policlinic and controls. The interendocrine policlinic and internal unit of DR. Wahidin Sudirohusodo general hospital. The design used in this research was a case control. The sample was selected using accidental sampling method consisting of 71 cases and 71 controls. The test used was odds Ratio(OR) with multiple logistic regression. Confident interval 95 % with @ = 0,05. The results show that obesty has OR 6,07 (CI = 2.93 – 12.54) ; hypertension has OR 3.74 (CI = 1,77 – 7.90) ; and stress has OR 1.67 (Ci = 0,61 – 4.60). In short it is indicated that obesity hypertension high cholesterol, family history and stress are the risk factors of the prevalence of diabetes mellitus. High cholesterol has the biggest risk factor affecting diabetes mellitus, Therefore it is suggested that people need to control the risk people need to control the risk factors of diabetes mellitus by consuming food containing less cholesterol and applying health life style such as doing intensive exercises and having an ideal body weight.
