Profile of COPD Patients who Admitted to (Hospitalized in) Persahabatan Hospital, Jakarta (Profil Penderita PPOK yang Menjalani Rawat Inap di UPF Paru Rumah Sakit Persahabatan, Jakarta)
We reviewed 42 patients (36 males, 6 females) with (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases) COPD that hospitalized in Pulmonology Department Hospital during February-June and October-December 1994, in spite of 18.5 percent among them were admitted through emergency unit. Fifteen patients (35.7 percent) were as referred patients. Twenty two patients were for the first time hospitalization, 16 Patients with rehospitalization and 4 patients no remarks. Thirty five patients (88.33 percent) age between 55-74 years, with average for male 63.14 years and female 68 years. The average survival age was 65.16 years with average of hospitalization 14.58 days. The average of mortality age was 69.25 years with average of hospitalization 3.25 days. The PaCO2 less than 35 mmHg and more than 55 mmHg in blood gas analysis mortality out come was 18.18 percent and 20 percent. PaO2 less than 60 percent giving mortality of 30 percent. In Acute exacerbation COPD, the main trigger still infection (71.43 percent) only one patient between the forth with cause of death COPD.
