Combination of corticosteroids and antifungal at the initial treatment of candidosis cutis will promote the reduction of inflamation and should result in the lessning of patients discomfort. This ramdomized, double blind study compared the combination of clorrimazol 1 percent and betamethason 1 percent cream (preparation II). A total of 98 patients with candidosis cutis were entered into this study and randomly assigned into 2 groups, each group was given either preparation I or II for 14 days. The results showed that preparation I had the advantage in decreasing the clinical score compared to preparation II, even though the difference was not statistically significant. The negative mycological findings and the overall results of the treatment was not significantly different in both groups. In conclusion, short term combination with a strong steroid (betamethasone dipropionate 0.05 percent) promotes the dimishing of clinical symptoms without dimishing the overall treatment response.
