Evaluation of Efficacy and Safety of Loratadine Pseudoehedrine was Compared with Carbinoxamine Maleate Phenylephrine HCL for Treatment of the Allergica Rhinitis (Evaluasi Efektivitas dan Keamanan Laratadin-Pseudoefedrin Sulfat Dibanding dengan Karbinoksamin Maleat Fenilefrin HCL pada Pengobatan Rinitis Alergi)
The efficacy and safety of loratadine pseudoephedrine sulfate was compared with carbinoxamine maleate phenylephrine HCI in a single blind study in the treatment of 77 patients with allergic rhinitis. The gradation were moderate and severe (the minimal score was 6 for nasal symptoms). Treatment were administered orally twice daily for 14 days and were evaluated at baseline and on days 4, 8 and 15 (after 3, 7 and 14 of treatment). Of the 77 patients who received treatment, 17 patients discontinued before the final evaluation on days 15. The differences between treatment groups, in total symptom scores, nasal symptom scores, non nasal symptom scores, and nasal stuffiness were not significant differents statistically (p more than 0.05) on days 4, 8, and 15. Sedation as side effect, was found frequently in carbinoxamine group than laratadine group. The difference was statistically significant difference from baseline.
