The Effect of Prochlorperazine on Glucose Absorption and Alkaline Phosphatase Activity in Intestine of Wistar Strain Rats (Pengaruh Pemakaian Proklorperazin terhadap Absorpsi Glukosa dan Aktivitas Fosfatase Alkali pada Usus Halus Tikus Putih)
Prochlorperazine is a psychopharmacological which has been psychosis treatment, is a compound of tricyclis antidepressantia phenothiazine derivative. This drug is ussually used in high doses and normally for long period. This research aims to investigate was effect on glucose absorption and alkaline phosphatase activity. The investigation was carried out using male rats of wistar strain, 3 to 4 mounth of age with 200 to 300 g weight. The effect of prochlorperazine on glucose absorption was done in situ. The prochlorperazine used was 87.50 mg/kg rat weight in 25.0 ml Krebs Ringer Bicarbonat solution. The glucose concentration was determined according to Nelson Somogyi method. Effect of prochlorperazine on alkaline phosphatase activity was done in vitro. The alkaline phosphatase activity was determined according to Bodansky method and protein concentration according to Lowry method. The results showed that prochlorperazine could inhibit the glucose absorpstion activity at the 10th, 20th, and 30th minutes with 41.22 percent, 45.68 percent, and 41.70 percent. Respectively prochlorperazine was able to work as a depressor against alkaline phosphatase activity at the 0th, 10th, 20th and 30th minutes were 39.60 percent, 25.74 percent, -3.22 percent and 33.62 percent respectively was also observed as an inhibitor to alkaline phosphatase activity in intestine mucose was 32.44 percent.
