Hubungan antara Tingkat Pendapatan dan Tingkat Konsumsi Protein Hewani Anak Balita Keluarga Pedagang Canang Desa Tiyingtali, AbangKarangasem
Good nutrition is essential for growth and evelopment in child. Child needs better nutrition than adult because their fast groth. It is important, therefore, to look after their needs of animal protein. Animal protein has high bilogy availability and also contains essential acid for child’s physical growth and development. Lack of protein intake could lead to thin and short child, with pale face and more easier to get sick. Malnourished children could be affected by family income. Low nutrition knowledge of mothers affect the way of mothers for choasing family foods, food handing, and food comsumption, particularly animal product for their children which could lead to malnourished children. The study aims to determine the correlation between family income and animal protein intake in children under five in Canang Seller Family. The study was conducted from Juli to Agustus 2007 in Tiyingtali Village, Abang District, Karang Regency. The sample of the study was 32 families. The statistic analysis for the study was used Chi-Aquare Test. It is found that the highest number of animal protein intake in children under five years was 40.45 gram and the lowest was 21.68 gram with the average was 28,56 gra. There was no significant correlation between family income and animal protein intake. Family income could affect food choices and food frequency. Low income families spend more income for food. In contract, rich families spend less percentage of their income for food and could provide better needs for life
