Effektivitas Booklet untuk Meningkatkan Pengetahuan Anak SD sebagai Inovator Penyediaan Garam Beryodium Keluarga di Kecamatan Sidemen, Karangasem, Bali
This study was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of booklet for increasing the knowledge of elementary school children as innovator in family to provide iodize salt at house hold level. The study was a quasi experimental with the pretest-posttest with control group design. There were 106 samples of students grade four and five from four elementary schools. The intervention groups were students from Elementary School No.3 and 4 and the control group were students from Elementary School No. 5 and No. 6 Nutrition education using booklet about goiter and iodize salt supply was given to the intervention group. To analyse the increase of knowledge of students and iodine salt supply in family was used ‘t-test’ analysis. There was an increase of knoeledge of students. The mean score of control group in pre test was 4.93 and the post was 7.22, while the mean score of experiment gtoup in pre test was 4.49 and the post test was 8.12. This shows that the booklet was an effective strategy to increase the knowledge of students sbout goiter and iodize salt. However the supply of iodize salt at house hold level decreased in the intervention and control group respectively, because the mothers had no time to buy iodize salt in the market. The important reason to explain why the mothers are mostly not provide iodinesalt in family because the market is far from their gouse. The supply iodize salt for control group before treatment was 35.8% and after intervention was 25.4%, while the experiment group before treatment was 33.9% and after is 23.6%. The study suggests that the booklet is important to use for education in scool children. Furthermore, it is important to conduct the following research to analyse the factors of iodize salt supply in fa,ily level.
