The Mechanism of Inflamatorical Disturbance on Periodontium Tissue (Mekanisme Kelainan Inflamatorik Jaringan Periodontium)
Inflammatory periodontal disease is a major oral disease that along with dental carries, represents a chief oral health threat. The disease strongly relates to age. Gingivitis is rarely found in children despite the presence of dental plaque, but during puberty, general susceptibility to gingivitis occurs. Periodontal pockets and loss of periodontal attachment commence in the 20s and 30s. The rates of attachment loss varies among individuals, some are significantly more susceptible and suffer greater periodontal destruction; others exhibit slight loss. The degrees of progression also varies between different sites within an individual's dentition, although there is a tendency for bilateral symetry in the distribution of attachment loss, bone loss, and tooth loss from periodontitis.
