The Current Development of (Perkembangan Terbaru Pityriasis Versicolor)
Until recently 'Malassezia furfur' is considered as the only responsible on the development of 'pityriasis versicilor', while the 'Pityrosporum orbiculare' and 'Pityrosporum ovale' are considered synonymous. The disease are very common in and during when the temperature and humidity are high. The common hypo or hyperpigmentation lesions with or without itchy sensation, are usually covered with tiny squamae, make the disease needs to be differentiated with erythrasma, pityriasis alba, pityriasis rosea, vitiligo, and seborrhoic dermatitis. Skin scrape microscopic identification using KOH 20 percent solution is usually needed to ascertain the diagnosis. Pityriasis versicolor can be treated topically using 2.5 percent selenium sulfide, several such as several azol derivatives, allilamine derivatives, thiosulfate-sodium 20-25 percent or keratolytic agent such as propylene glycol 50 percent. Oral therapy using or derivatives could be used for larger lesions or when topical therapy doesn't work. Skin hygiene is obligatory to avoid recurrence, white the skin hypopigmentation will eventually heal later on without medication.
