The Pharmacological of Antithyroid Agents (Farmakologi Obat-obat Penghambat Tiroid)

Antithyroid drug is a group of drugs which has a direct inhibitive effect on thyroid hormon synthesis. Some of them have been used widely to control hiperthyrodism for a short as well as for a longer period of time. Clinically antithyroid is given to patients while waiting for the remission of their hyperthyroidism; it is also used in combination with radioactive iodine, or in preparing a patient for surgery. The thyroid inhibitors, which block iodine ion transport and are very toxic, are used only in diagnostic purposes.
