Food Consumption Level of Animal Products and the Effort to Increase it (Upaya Peningkatan Konsumsi Asal Ternak di Indonesia)
Along with increasing quality of human resources, increasing food consumption of animal products is urgently required as if is the agent of development. Objectives of this paper were to assess food consumption level of animal products and efforts to increase it. Using data of Susenas and NBM, the results are as follows: (1) rate of protein consumption is higher than that of energy, (2) rate of protein consumption of animal products is lower than that of fish. Eggs are the only food of animal products consumed by the people which is in accordance with the suggested amount. It is necessary to increase the consumption of food of livestock products due to its roles in improving human resources. The efforts to do are through increasing income, extension, decreasing those and increasing supply. It is expected to develop livestock industry of small holders.
