Nutritional Status on Infant and Maternal and its Influencing Factors in Sukosewu and Semen Village, Blitar, East Java (Status Gizi Balita, Ibu Balita dan Faktor yang Mempengaruhinya di Desa Sukosewu dan Desa Semen, Kabupaten Blitar, Jawa Timur)
The main objective of this study is to asses the prevalence of malnutrition among underfive children and their mothers, to asses the prevalence of mother suffered from goiter, and to analyze the determinant factors influence the malnutrition and goiter. Data collection was conducted by interview using structured questionnaires, facus group discussions, observation, iodine test and antropometric measurement. Result revealed that the malnutrition problem of underfive children existing in two villages 34 percent and 21.2 percent of children could due to, suffered from infectious disease (acute respiratory infection, no receiving iodine capsule and insufficient immunization/DPT). The malnutrition problem of mother of underfive children existing in two villages according to BMI classification 5 percent and 10.7 percent of mother were underweight. The determinant factors of malnutrition among mother of underfive children could be due to, inadequate iodine salt consumption. The prevalence of mother of underfive children suffered from goiter was still high in two villages, i.e 33.8 percent and 38.8 percent (visible Swollen Gland). The determinat factors could due to inadequate iodine salt consumption and cabbage consumption.
