Effects of Papaverine HCL on Human Sperm Motility in Vitro after the Semen has Previosly been Frozen (Peningkatan Motilitas Sperma dengan Penambahan Papaverin HCL Setelah Pembekuan Semen Manusia)
Obejective: To ascertain the effects of papaverine HCL on human sperm motility in vitro after the semen has previosly been frozen. Design/Data identification: Prospective experimental study the pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed with one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Setting: Andrology and Resproductive Laboratory, Malabar 55, Jakarta. Subjects, Patients, Participants: ten semen samples from ifertile patients obtained by masturbation after 3 days of sexual abstiment. Interventions; Semen which have been frozen one week in liquid nitrogen at temperature of -196 degree celcius, then thawed and papaverine HCL 30 ug/ml added, then incubated for 15 minutes at a temperature of 37 degree celcius. Results the mean sperm mortility after being frozen but before being incubated was 24.90 plus/minus 6.57 percent. The mean sperm mortility after being frozen and after being incubated, without added papaverine HCL was 19.20 plus/minus 7.44 percent. Colclusions: The addition of papaverine HCL can improve human sperm motility after being frozen.
