Intrauterine Quinacrine Pellet : The Comparison between One Time and Two Times Insertion Method for a Year as Chemical Secure Contraception (Pellet Quinakrin Intrauterin: Perbandingan Metode Insersi Satu Kali dengan Dua Kali Selama Satu Tahun sebagai Kontrasepsi Mantap Kimiawi)
Objective: To understand the effectiveness and assuredness of one time insertion method of intrauterine quinacrine pellet as chemical secure contraception. Design/Data identification: Open Clinical trial. All the subjects were done tubal patention test followed by the insertion of secure contraception of quanicrine pellet of one-time and two-time methods. The correlation of the two groups was evaluated statistical with t-test and Chi Square test; while the difference of occlusion effect was evaluated with Fisher test. Setting: Polyclinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine University of Indonesia/ Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital and Family Planning Polyclinic of Raden Saleh. Subject, Patients; Participants: 100 subjects desiring secure contraception and devided into 2 groups. Group A (insertion of Quinacrine pellet of one-time method) consisted of 70 subjects, and Group B (insertion of quinacrine pellet of two-time method) covered 30 subjects. Intervention: Tubal patention test chemical sterilization using quinacrine pellet+intrauterine Dichopenac. Main outcome measures: Tubal occlusion, pregnancy. Results: The majority of subjects (56 percent) had an education of 1 to 6 years and IUD constituted the most oreviously used contraceptives (50 percent). On tubal patention test evaluation of three-months quinacrine pellet post-insertion, it was found tubal occlusion to be 88.6 percent in group A and 93.3 percent in group B. No significant difference was found in statistical test. During one-year observation, 3 pregnancies (4.3 percent) occurred, all of them were in group A. The most frequent side effects complaint was the discharge of yellow liquid, pruritus vulvae, head pain occurring mainly in the first month of post-insertion of quinacrine pellet. Conclusion: Chemical secure contraception recommended is the insertion of quinaccrine pellet coupled with intrauterine Dichlophenac with two-time insertion method. The present side effects are mild and temporary.
