Objective: To identify the adequancy of Pap test examination by means of spatula Lonstenn. Design: The evaluation of correlation between the examinations of the new instrument Pap Test (spatula Lonstenn) and standard Pap Test (combination of spatula Ayre and Cytobrush). Setting: Calposcopy Polyclinic, Deparment of Obstetric and Gynecology, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Jakarta. Results: By using spatula Lonstenn it was found 111 (79.86 percent) specimens were satisfactory for evaluation, 13 (9.35 percent) specimens were satisfactory for evaluation but limited due to the absence of endocervical cells, 14 (10.07 percent) specimens were satisfactory for evaluation but limmited due to the presence of solid inflammatory cells, and 1 (0.72 percent) specimen was unsatisfactory for evaluation because it was surrounded by inflammatory solid cells, blood and the absence of endocervical cells. By using a commbined spatula Ayre and Cytobrush it was found 117 (84.17 percent) specimens were satisfactory for evaluation, 5 (36 percent) specimens were satisfactory for evaluation but limited due to the absence of endocervical cells, 17 (12.23percent) specimens were satisfactory for evaluation but limited due to the presence of solid inflammatory cells. No specimen was unsatisfactory evaluation. It was found a reliable correlation of Pap test examinations between spatula Lonstenn and combind spatula Ayre and Cytobrush, with Kappa value = 0.89.
