Breast Feeding Pattern of Less than 12 Months Infants and Some Family Aspects in Outpatient Pediatrical Clinic, Tapaktuan Hospital (Pola Pemberian ASI pada Bayi Umur 0-12 Bulan dan Beberapa Aspek Sosial Keluarga Pengunjung Poliklinik Anak Rumah Sakit Umum Tapaktuan)
Breast milk during the period of infancy is the best and most important nutritional to achieve optimum and development. Exclusive breast feeding can support adeaquate infant growth throughout the first 4 or 6 months of life and to continue with adequate complementary foods for up to years to have good nutritional status. A cross sectional study was carried out on breast feeding practice of children 0-12 months of age at outpatient clinic of pediatric Tapaktuan Hospital from Agust 1, 1995 until October 31, 1995. Out of 150 children, 96.7 percent are breast fed but only 31.9 percent are exclusively breast fed until 4 months of age. There were significant association between the less frequent of breast feeding with the higher level of maternal education, maternal employment and the number of children they have. There was a tendency to give prelactal feeding before the mother feed their babies and introducing solid food too early
