The Flies and its Parasites in Garbages Pile of Solid Waste in Malang (Lalat dan Parasit yang Melekat pada Tubuhnya di Tempat Pembuangan Sampah Akhir Supit Urang Kodya Malang)
Flies are quite frequently found any places like slaughter houses, garbages pile as well as in human dwelling. These flies therefore are medically important to man and animal as mechanical carriers of viruses, bacteria, protozoa and helminth. Lacking the information related with this phenomena, it is therefore worthwhile to study some ecological aspects of the flies and its parasite in garbages pile of solid waste in Malang. This research was conducted from May until July 1995 in Malang by using fly trap, placed over those waste deploy for three hours in each collecting time, sampling was done once for every four days. The result showed that there were two species of flies found in that area i.e. Musca domestica and Chrysomya megacephala. Musca domestica have had highest density and followed by Chrysomya megacephala. Musca domestica reached its peak density in the begining of July, while Chrysomya megacephala in the 4th week of May. The peak of the density of both flies parasite and their host occured in the same time. There were negative correlation of the temperature and the density of male Musca domestica, but the correlation of temperature and female Musca domestica density was positive.
