Blood Pressure in Diabetes Mellitus Non Insulin Dependent Patient (Tekanan Darah Penderita Diabetes Melitus Tak Tergantung Insulin (DMTTI) dengan Beberapa Faktor Pemberat)
To determine the relationship between some aggravating factors namely dyslipidemia, diabetic retinopathy, and microalbuminuria and Blood Pressure (BP) in Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM) patients we screened NIDDM patients for BP, lipid profile, and the presence of retinopathy and microalbuminuria at in-patient department of Internal Medicine Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta. Patients recruited in the study were those who had NIDDM and exluded if proved to have non-diabetic kidney disease, urinary infection and/or stone, congestive heart failure, and macroalbuminuria. During the study we screened 106 NIDDM patients. Out of those patients 44 (41.5 percent) had dyslipidemia (DYS), 36 (34.2 percent) had diabetic retinopathy (RERT), and 59 (55.6 percent) had microalbuminuria (MIC). Eleven patients were exluded. We conclude that NIDDM patients with one or more of the 3 (DYS, and MIC) aggravating factors had diabetes longer and had BP higher than those without aggravating factor. NIDDM patients with DYS, RET, MIC, DYS and RET, RET and MIC, DYS and MIC, DYS and RET, DYS and RET and MIC costly had BP of more than 140/85 mmHg and those who had blood pressure 140/90 mmHg or more suffered by 50 percent or more of the patients. Meanwhile, NIDDM patients without aggravating factor had mean BP of around 120/80 mmHg and those who had BP 140/90 mmHg or more suffered by around 30 percent of patients.
