The Evaluation of Maxillary Sinusitis Management on Child in Dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang (Evaluasi Pengolahan Sinusitis Maksila pada Anak di RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang)
A descriptive retrospective study of 49 cases (10.43 percent) of children maxillary sinusitis among 469 maxillary sinusitis cases in ENT Department Hospital Semarang (1994-1995) had been done. The predominant symptoms and signs were nasal discharge (73.5 percent), nasal obstruction (38.8 percent), post nasal discharge (32.7 percent) and cough (26.5 percent). On X-ray examination, the oposity, mucosal thickening, air-fluid level and normal appearance were respectively 51 percent, 32.6 percent, 4 percent and 12.4 percent. Conservative treatment were done in post of patients (71.5 percent) with good result on 60 percent, while operation were done in 28.5 percent of cases with good result on 80.6 percent.
