Somatic growth and development is a changing process of , cellular/organ differentiation and . Discription of somatic growth could be measured by examination, shape and body proportion and the use of indexes or which correlate one to the other measurements. Somatic growth of 0-4 year old children when the biological changes and physiologic regulation from intrauterine environment toward extrauterine stressful circumstances happened, determined the quality of one's life. Internal factors that could be observed to support the somatic growth variations are , , diseases and related to the other variables e.g. physical activities, community ecosystem and different socioeconomical situation. Determinant factors in promoting somatic growth of Indonesian children should be approached through the important aspects of child welfare goals to reach successful : 1) ; 2) Child Development and 3) Child Protection. The role of Indonesian paediatricians need to be integrated with other sectors action considering the national assets and targets, straight forward to the sequence of life cycle from conception to adolescent.
