Gambaran Persepsi dan Sikap Pasien Diabetes Melitus terhadap Pengobatan Tradisional di DKI Jakarta di Yogyakarta, dan Surabaya

A study on diabetes melitus was conducted in DKI Jakarta, and Surabaya,The respondents were the patients who went to the traditional healers (dukun and sinshe). Data colection was conducted through interview using questionnaire and also in depth interview to the respondents. The results of the study showed that most of the respondents did not believe that diabetes melitus was caused either by black magic or curse God. However 79.8 percent of the respondents hoped to be recovered from their illness immediately. The greater part of the respondents visiteg the tradition healers as suggested by their frien’s or their family. While 73 percent of respondent’s illness were diagnosed by health personel. However about 58.1 percent responden visited the traditional healers. The reasons for visiting to the traditional healers were due to cheaper, services closer to their homers, more confidence in trational healer, side of moderen treatment and low efectiveness moderen treatment.
